Nick Edwards AES, AEP is ESSA’s Chief Exercise Physiologist and an Accredited Exercise Physiologist and Exercise Scientist with 14 years’ experience across the Australian healthcare system. His clinical experience spans hospital, community and private practice settings, including supporting outpatients using GLP-1 receptor agonists, alongside roles in clinical education and university teaching.
Nick has particular expertise in cardiac, pulmonary and cancer rehabilitation and is a member of Ramsay Health Care’s national subject matter expert panel for pulmonary rehabilitation. He has also been involved in an innovative student-led interprofessional clinic in Logan, delivering integrated care for people living with diabetes and providing students with practical experience in multidisciplinary models of care.
As ESSA’s first Chief Exercise Physiologist, Nick provides national clinical leadership for the profession, with a focus on translating evidence into safe, effective exercise care for people living with chronic and complex conditions. His work brings a practical AEP perspective to emerging models of multidisciplinary care, including how exercise physiology can support people using GLP-1 and other obesity pharmacotherapies.
